The Armenian Genocide

Most of you probably never heard about it so, here is your chance
Now for those of you that don't know about this, that is okay. I personally didn't know about it until I picked up a memoir just for the fun of it and it was about a person's experience during the Armenian Genocide.
The Armenian Genocide in Turkey started in 1915. On the day that it started (April 24, 1915) hundreds of Armenians were arrested and killed. Then the 'Special Organization', created by the political party Young Turks which at the time was in charge of the government, sent out squads to kill Armenians.
Just about 400,000 Armenians were left in Turkey by the time the Armenian Genocide stopped in 1922.
One of my friends' great-grandfather was part of the Armenian Genocide. He was hidden by a Turkish family and was able to escape.
Today Turkey does not recognize the Armenian Genocide. The U.S., because it is an ally with Turkey, finally recognized the Armenian Genocide in 2010.
