Jacques Mayol

Happy Thanksgiving!
So today I'll be writing about Jacques Mayol.
Jacques Mayol was a free diver, meaning that he would dive as deep as he could go on one breath. Only one. He was a French kid raised in China, so he learned meditation and yoga, which allowed him to learn how to hold his breath for really long.
There was even a movie made about him called "The Big Blue" and another one called "Dolphin Man". His diving record was 347 ft on one breath.

Assassination of Carlos Delgado Chalbaud

So I know that this is out of the ordinary but I am having a post coming out on a Monday instead of a Thursday. Usually, my posts come out on Thursdays at one.
So now about the assassination.
The assassination occurred on November 13, 1950. Carlos Delgado Chalbaud was a military officer in Venezuela. He was President of Venezuela from November 24, 1948, until November 13, 1950, almost two years. Chalbaud was part of a group that helped overthrow the former President's (Calego) government.
The apparent leader of the assassination, Rafael Simon Urbina, was killed in a scuffle with a guard.

English. Where did it come from?

So sorry I was sick on Saturday! Here is my post on the history of English!!!!
So you all know how English comes from greek and latin roots right? Well, now you will know the transition stages!!!
In the beginning, there was the Old English. They used this English around the first century.

Then there was Middle English which was around 1500 and Early Modern Day English.
Then (I'm using then too much) there was the Late Modern Day English which is from the early 1800s to around now.

The Armenian Genocide

Most of you probably never heard about it so, here is your chance
Now for those of you that don't know about this, that is okay. I personally didn't know about it until I picked up a memoir just for the fun of it and it was about a person's experience during the Armenian Genocide.
The Armenian Genocide in Turkey started in 1915. On the day that it started (April 24, 1915) hundreds of Armenians were arrested and killed. Then the 'Special Organization', created by the political party Young Turks which at the time was in charge of the government, sent out squads to kill Armenians.
Just about 400,000 Armenians were left in Turkey by the time the Armenian Genocide stopped in 1922.
One of my friends' great-grandfather was part of the Armenian Genocide. He was hidden by a Turkish family and was able to escape.
Today Turkey does not recognize the Armenian Genocide. The U.S., because it is an ally with Turkey, finally recognized the Armenian Genocide in 2010.
